UPDATE: Photos of Clyde added below!

Clyde is an Adruino-compatible, expressive lamp that looks like a fun way to experiment and get creative with hacking your physical environment. Pop an XBee shield in so you can talk to Clyde remotely and have him react to things happening online (e.g. breaking news.)

So why Clyde?

“I only started to enjoy programming and circuit-building when i realized the potential to make things that are beautiful and weird and personally meaningful to me”

– Amanda Williams, one of Clyde’s designers

Clyde launched on Kickstarter just 12 hours ago and is already 22% into its $45,000 goal. We predict it will be a winner.

We visited HAXLR8R in Shenzhen where Clyde was developed a couple of weeks ago and unfortunately Amanda and Bruno, Clyde’s designers, were not around — but we did snap some photos of an early prototype that their friend Sylvia shared with us. Enjoy!
